There are all kinds of sausages in this world, if you take “sausage” to mean a tube of fleshy material made through a process of first grinding up disparate pieces of fleshy material and other ingredients into a single mixture, and then feeding that mixture into a machine that shapes it into an indefinitely long tube that is then transformed into many smaller tubes, or sausages, via a process of demarcation by slicing. One of my favorites is the “long egg,” which, if I am correctly understanding a YouTube video in German titled Long Egg Production, is mass-produced in a factory by first separating a huge amount of egg yolks into two separate, gigantic mixtures, which are then fed into two tubes. One tube is contained within the other, and this is where the yolk mixture goes, while the whites mixture is fed into the outer tube. The two tubes get cooked and then pushed out of the apparatus, producing long eggs. My labor time gets extracted from me and is chewed up, along with the labor time of all my coworkers, into a gigantic machine that converts it all into the singular medium of money, which then gets sliced up and distributed as profits and wages, making me and everybody else working inside the Safeway exactly like sausage."
